This is where I'm from.... I know pretty much none of you will understand the text, but look at the pictures and the dates (dates are in parentheses)..... If you ever get a chance to visit central Europe, stop by and check out Gdansk... the city is over 1000 years old.
Poland, Gdansk and Gdanya, twin cities kinda like Minneapolis and St Paul was there in 1972, I know probably before some of you were even a twinkle. Beautiful cities, ps I'm from Scotland very close to the land of Braveheart, in fact The battle of Bannockburn was fought les than 15 minutes from My old Home in Scotland. John

Cool. My middle name is Wallace and I'm a descendant of a brother (or uncle) of William Wallace. Got to meet the Provost of Elderslie last year and have a standing invitation to visit the home of my ancestors -- hope I get to do it before I'm too old to travel.
Actually pretty close... it's triCity: Gdansk (the oldest) and then Sopot and Gdynia. Gdynia is the most recent of them and most industrialized (although the huge boat yards which used to be a pride of Europe for a long time are in Gdansk). Gdansk is over 1000 years old and is very beautiful. THere is a lot of history in that city and a lot of great (famous) people came from there, Hevelius being one of them (who knows who he is??? ). We even have a beer named after him
Rnmedic, you should visit again as the city (old town) has been really restored for the millenium cellebration and it's very well upkept ever since
Believe it or not, but there is even a house with a gold plated front of the building!
Spelling looks fine to me I think though the time might be nearing when you need reading glasses  The way they work is that you put them on and all becomes clears LOL
My family is from central Europe as well, Slovakia to be exact, I'm the first generation here, my folks showed up in 1972.
Been to Poland, but never to Gdansk. My wife keeps bugging me to go back, but I'm not a big fan of tourist traps and crowded cities. I've been back about 10 times since my family moved here.
It's an interesting place, and most of my relatives live there, but I like the US of A.
Well, I was born in the states and am very proud to be an American. However, Im the 3rd generaton of my family born here. Great Grandparents floated over from Germany in a banana crate Still have some family in Feldkirchen-Westerham, a little southeast of Munchen(Munich) My wife has been nailing me really hard the last year about floating back over and visiting for a month or so. Were not interested in the tourists traps either, thats not the culture we want to see. So we would be staying at their house and having a better time than the trendy tourists spots.

Oh yeah, I dont think they named a bier after hitler:eyes:
