Uninstalling the no-slip

Alright...well the no-slip is coming out...ive got the pinion shaft out and thats about it. I cant get the c-clip out of the passenger driver and I already bent one spring pulling it out...so im kinda stuck, what is the best way to do this?

I would guess that you actually have the cross shaft out ... not the pinion shaft.

Once you have the cross shaft and spider gears removed, you should be able to push the axle shaft in enough to allow the c-clip to fall out. Sometimes the shaft is a bit stubborn about sliding in enough, or the c-clip is a bit hung up in the slot ... just keep working at it ... It should eventually free up and come out.

Yeah, the c-clip could be hung up as LBEXJ said. When we installed mine, the c-clips would not fit into the slots in the couplers. Had to grind them down to make them fit without binding. If the shop had to grind the c-clips, they may not have ground them down enough for them to fall out freely.

Well when I asked the guy that installed it if he had to grind them down and he said no so Im not sure what to do if they are hung up in there. I guess Ill just have to keep working at it.

Push axle in and out slightly while rotating and sticking a very small screw driver in the slot. Just took mine out this weekend to Regear my 8.25.

no luck... i got brake cleaner and sprayed it so i guess now im going to find somebody to wiggle the axle because its definantly not working by myself. i have to keep the side locked up because if I dont then the slot gets closed and the coupler is in the way and everything gets out of place. Well...back to the garage.

Wow, you're really not having too much luck at this. I never realized taking a C-Clip off could be that much trouble.

I just rotated and pushed the shaft in and out slightly while the slots were facing downward and the clip just fell right out.

Is it possible that the rear end overheated and warped the metal or something?

Sounds like the syncro ring is broken.

I have had to remove my No slip many times, and i have always had problems with that C clip. Break cleaner to remove oil is a good idea. But the best thing that works for me is to hit the carrier with a hammer. The shock of the hammer releases the c clip and it falls out. (and i am not talking about beating the carrier.) just give it a couple taps.
