Transmission mount. Poly?

somebody school me on poly trans mounts. I'm running a nearly new OEM mount and Brown Dog rubber motor mounts.

I strapped my old gopro to the bottom of the jeep and did some light running on a washboard road, noticed my t-case moves a lot. my skid doesn't leave a lot of room. I'm thinking that a poly mount will keep the movement to a minimum.

any downside to poly mounts other than vibration? any reason not to mix with rubber engine mounts?

the quality is low, but here is a quick vid showing the t-case moving. its just left of center above the diff, tucked in to the skid.

wont really make a differance if you mix them. the difference between rubber and polyurethane mounts is polyurethane is more durable than the oem rubber mounts. a tiny bit more stiff, and will just outlast the rubber ones.

The only way to limit movement is to build a mount similar to what freerider did in his build. Other than that you're limited to stock or aftermarket poly mounts that use the stock style mounting. Check for other sources that may be loose.

i always found that rubber deteriorates slower than polly. your results may vary, but i dont put poly on my rig.

before i ditched the AW4 I had poly motor mounts and a daystar poly trans mount. it will vibe a lot but it didn't bother me, i had no interior it was noisy already :gee: I got tired of the tcase banging around and the poly mount solved it.

don't you run the risk of cracking the bell housing if just running a poly tran mount and rubber motor mounts? Or was it the other way around?

Oh noes my bellhousing gonna break!

Not saying it will...... Just run a greater risk of it happening. IIRC there are a few threads of it happening. I'm sure bad motor mounts and a lot of hard forward/reverse action had something to do with it.

it's because jeeps with automatics were only meant to go to the store to get milk. If you have an ax15 you won't have that problem.
