REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) — Rehoboth Beach in Delaware isn’t a topless beach — but a few transgender women caused a stir by treating it like one.

Police say passers-by complained after they removed their tops and revealed their surgically enhanced breasts over Memorial Day weekend. A lifeguard asked them to put their tops back on. They initially refused, but covered up before police arrived.

Even if they hadn’t, though, Police Chief Keith Banks notes they were doing nothing illegal. Since they have male genitalia, they can’t be charged with indecent exposure for showing their breasts. Banks says there’s no need for a specific law to address the issue.

Rehoboth Beach commissioner Kathy McGuiness isn’t so sure. She says the matter will be discussed at a town hall meeting next week.

I can see it now, 'Hey, you with the 38DD's, lets see your package'...

I wonder if this will spur a bunch of genetically true women to go topless then claim to be transgender if approached by the law. Who does the package check in the situation?

If you outlaw transgender women what about over weight men with C cups? Where is the line drawn in the sand? Cup size(gender neutral), real/fake, birth gender, claimed gender or just vomit factor?

PERSONALLY I see these as the same thing... though some don't I guess.

Depends. Most of the time it seems to be about "that's naughty bits so we shouldn't see it." Most of the people who would get told to cover up are exactly the opposite of vomit factor, in my experience...

I wonder what the Topfreedom movement thinks about this?

While I don't usually think much of European attitudes, I will admit that I think their thoughts toward body image are much better than ours. If we could get quit of this Puritan ethos that "the nude form is 'dirty' and should not be seen" I think we'd be healthier as a people. How much of the psychological problems we have could be traced to residual self-loathing due to this ethos?

X2. Bikini top vs topless doesn't seem like a big jump to me. Jeep naked!

Hang out on the Purdue campus during Maymester! I remember some of those bikinis I saw there in the eighties, they looked like postage stamps held together with monofilament line...

The only good thing about summer is the improvement in scenery...

We call those "accident days" because all the male drivers are so distracted.

You ought to see the steps of the NY public library or the stock exchange on a sunny day at lunch time in Manhattan once it gets warm. They expose as much skin as possible.

True, most "bathing suits" have little to nothing to hide little of anything. Thong bikini, tiny tops, might as well take it off. Like IM gonna complain.
Besides after living ON Galveston island for a few years, im here to attest most of the tourists that came down really ought to just stay in pants and a shirt. I really didnt WANT to see most of them any other way. ugh.:puke: If they HAD been topless .... i dont think anyone wouldve thought of anything close to lust. It may have caused an increase in beer sales though to erase some memories

Ralph, I keep forgetting that you live in Lubbock.

I was thinking, "Man, this guy is talking about Tech, how cool."

*forehead slap*

ahh i remember those days..... :D. many years before all this PC of "you can't stare" with out gettin slapped with a sexual harrasment case.

thE scenery, THE SCENERY!!!!!

imho, clothing is more to HIDE what you have (in some cases a good thing!), not "enhance" it or to "entice" the opposite sex.
if you are embaressed of what you look like, then by all means STAY DRESSED!!!!

Here's my take on it, while I really could care less about whether they're showing their goods or not...

You're choosing to live as a certain sex, even if you weren't born that way. If thats how you want to be treated, guess what, you get ALL the rules that go with being that sex. This isn't a buffett, you don't get to pick and choose under what circumstances you're male and under which you're female.
