I'm located in the livermore/pleasanton area...and want to take a day trip this weekend....Two very capable jeeps will be going....but we aren't sure were to go.... we know of Karnagie...(however you spell it), Hollister...but those aren't too exciting... Rubicon is a bit far/long to do in a day (including driving time)...Anyone have any ideas.... I want something HARD... i don't mind getting the jeep roughed up....Somebody please help!! thanks

There is not very much in the Bay Area, I live Near Modesto. I actually found some trails out in Valley Springs today while looking for land. They are just south of New Hogan Res. and I will inspect them further in the next couple of weeks if you would like to come. You need to be careful because today a realator sign jumped out of nowhere and hit the side of my Jeep.:D

Why don't you try Frank Raines off-road park near Patterson. Only 1hr 15 min from Pleasanton. The park offers some challenging rock crawling, along with some steep hill climbs. 640 acre park is mostly on the side of a hill, lots of fun, I have been there many times and know the trails well.

Carnegie has very limited areas for 4wds to operate, you can only drive on the valley floor. Not real fun at all.

I haven't found many other sites to wheel at around this area. Need to travel to get to the good stuff.

I live in Pleasanton and wouldn't mind tagging along for a day trip. Let me know if you are interested. My Jeep needs a little work first, but I'll get to that soon. I drive a red/silver 96 country 3" lift with black wheels and 31's. I've seen a few lifted XJs around town too, maybe it was you.

Here is a link to the Frank Raines website. I also recommend calling the phone number to make sure they are open. The park seems to close at times for various reasons.
