Trails in or around Sonora

I'm heading up to my sister's for Labor Day and was wondering if there are any decent day trip type trails in the area. Difficulty is not an issue. I'm just looking for something to do with my bro-in-law while my wife and sister talk baby stuff. Sickrock probably isn't too far away. Anything else? Thanks.

There are some good trails from what I hear but I have not been on any of them. Try calling Daves off-road and asking where some trails are, he is the best local 4x shop there.

I was flipping through a friends trail guide this weekend and there were thre or four trails listed in the area. Niagra Rim trail is one I can remember. They were all up 108 a ways.

Ya Niagra Rim is a great trail and has a lot of hard and easy stuff. If you want good stuff do the rock pile its fun. Go up hwy 108 past strawberry and turn right at the Niagra creek Campground sign. The road Y 's and stay to your right and go down until you get to the Niagra creek OHV campground. Go to www.californiajeeper.com for a trail map. Have fun

Oooops californiaJeeper doesnt have that map but you can get them at the ranger station in Pinecrest:

Summit ranger station
#1 pinecrest lake Rd
(209) 965-3434

Thanks for all the info.
Maybe the trails up there are like the trails down here in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Everybody swears they're out there, and they have a friend that's done 'em, but nobody (including their friends) can remember where they are...

Niagara Rim is very fun, and scenic.

Take a right on Eagle Lakes Road off of Hwy 108. There is information at the OHV staging area.

You'll have a good time. It's the first trail I ever did in the Princess, back in 1994.

Yep its a fun trail, I ran it last month.

I used to run it with 31's and a rear locker. It was fine, but a stocker would have a bit of difficulty on some of the boulder fields.

If the stocker is a beater, than by all means, beat away. I'd have a another vehicle on hand for strap-on duty, though.

I'll bring the "ugly" one. The other one is too pretty.
