As the title says, I am looking for a local shop that will calibrate torque wrenches for a decent price. I have tried googling, but my Google mojo isn't working since I haven't found any results.

I have an old Plomb and an old Craftsman torque wrench that I would like to have tested and calibrated.

Any help is appreciated!!

I would stop a random snap-on guy and ask his advice, yes your tools are not snap-on but most of them are pretty decent guys (from the dozen or so I've known) and might be able to give you a tip on where to go.

Yeah, I have google'd plenty of places that require me to ship them the wrenches. I would prefer not to do that though. Seems like an awful bit for some old torque wrenches.

I did however, find these things:

They have one both in 1/2" and 3/8'. Seems like a decent enough price to at least give them a try. I just find it extremely odd that no places just pop out on google for someone local in SoCal that calibrates torque wrenches.

If you know someone that works at an airport, just about all of the airline shops have calibration checkers, many times right at the terminals.

I have a set of these in 3/8 and 1/2" made by AC Delco at the shop, they work great. I haven't had them checked for calibration professionally but i put them up against my manual tq wrench and they seem dead on.

Well that is good to hear! It would cost me $75-$100 bucks at least to ship a torque wrench to someone, so I figured it would be worth the investment on these things. Also, everything I have found online has given them fantastic reviews with regards to quality and accuracy.

I still find it odd that there isn't a place local. You would figure that people have to get their torque wrenches calibrated, but I guess with the quality of shops around, I doubt many people do it...

articles like this screw everything up.....
esp my 50s SnapOn clicker...

I am not sure that I follow your logic here.

I was always taught to take all of the tension off of any torque wrench and that is how these have been stored since they were new. It is good news that little digital clicker works and is very accurate, or at least decently accurate for the price point.

It is starting to look like those ones I posted may be a good option!

i think i posted the wrong article...but even this one said shitty harbor freight torque wrenches work.

Nice to read that could be used in a pinch. Even having read this I wonder how I would feel if I pulled into a mechanic's garage and he busted out a HF torque wrench to work on my junk. LOL
