Went to Paragon today and was messing arround in the play area in the water, I crossed a few times and it was perty deep but one time I buried up to the top of my 31's, the water was at the bottom of the door flange on the tub.
The Jeep stalled otherwise I woulda kept goin and I didn't try to start it again for fear of hydro-locking, so I pulled the plugs and looked down the throttle body and I could see some water but not alot. I cranked it over and no water came out of the plugs so it wasn't that bad. For instance some guy in a YJ filled all 4 cylinders up and he had so much water in the intake you could see it as soon as you opened the throttle+ water in the oil, mine was no where near as bad.
Anyways I put it back together and wheeled for a little bit more then left but on the way to the gas station the check guages light came on and the volt meter was less than 9. It would go to 14 for the first few seconds after restarting but then go back down past 9, so I ended up having to drive home like that and right before the battery died the check engine light came on for the first time ever.
Also on the highway on the way back if I romped on the gas it wouldn't downshift like normal, it would try to downshift but go down up down up until I let off the gas. I later checked the tranny fluid and it was grayish with bubbles so I added more tranny fluid and let it idle for 10 minutes with the trans dipstick out to vent out some air. After that it wouldn't even attempt to downshift at all at highway speeds, just stay in the gear it wa running in but all the other shifts were nice and smooth
I know I blew the alternator so did I blow the tranny too or is this just a by-product of water inside? If I change the trans fluid will that take care of the problems or should I get it professionaly flushed?
So I'm guessing the Check Engine Soon light came on because of the alternator?
Sorry for the long post this just has me pissed.
