I've used BFG MT (old non-KM 33x12.5) and Swamper TSL Radial (31x9.5) and both gave pretty good service (DD and in the NC clay, some rocks)
The BFGs were probably better suited to DD use IMHO, but the Swampers weren't very loud. They just wore down pretty fast.
As for durability, I cut one BFG through the tread @ 700 miles, and I killed one of the TSLs with a sidewall cut (both were in really deep mud holes at the time, and I was in the "gettin it" mode)
If it were for trail-only (or if fast treadwear & increased noise isn't a concern) I'd say TSL-SX for sure. The only drawback is the sizing: 35x15.5" or 36x12.5". Since I've never tried GY, I can't comment on the BFGMT vs GYMT/R, other than to parrot that the west-coast guys swear by the MT/R, and I was pretty happy with my MTs.
BFG is a generous sponsor of

events and the Giveaway XJ, so I am biased in that regard, and they are offering a trail-hazard repair service... (which may be attractive to tire killers like I)
