Thinking about A Escalade for towing

So after looking at a garbage 7.3 turbo diesel ford tonight I had my co-pilot goblazers_6 searching for a good tow rig daily driver. It sparked my mind that I loved the older escalade body style. On to craigslist they sell for around 5k around here with no issues and higher highway miles. They look like the most comfortable rig ever, every option, and I believe awd. Im lookin at a rig for daily driver duties/ flatbedding the xj. Would this be a bad move? Isnt the 5.7 a fairly gas efficent v8? Im not expecting to out tow anyone but is this a more than capable rig? PLus they all come stock with 20'sand bad ass stereos. I would be a true redneck piece of white trash!

Should do just fine. Keep in mind that a 5.7 moving ~6,000 lbs of SUV, + a trailer + 4k of car isn't going to feel "light", though. It'll do it, but get a tranny cooler on the thing before all else. I suspect the Cadillac version of the Tahoe / Suburban (thats what the Escalades are, after all) aren't as well set up for towing from the factory.

Trailerlife.com has year by year towing rating guides. The 2006 version says the Escalade AWD with the 6.0 is rated to 8,100 lbs. That will vary with options.

20" wheels are fine and a factory option on modern vehicles, don't worry. Just make sure the tires have enough load rating.

I won't be able to control my laughter when you show up in your Escalade.
