The Other White Jeep Build

I got a phone call from a buddy telling me about a jeep that someone he knows is selling.

After talking with owner and going to the shop he had it at.

It was at the shop for overheating issues.

The shop owner said he had put a radiator, thermostat, water pump in it.
Still overheats, no hydrocarbons in the coolant. He thinks the water jackets in the block are clogged.

I made a deal with the owner to buy it.

Cash+gun I'm in to the jeep total $850

The plan with this one is to sell the Gay-J and daily drive

2001
4wd
Power windows
Power locks

I put the grill back together before having it towed to my buddy's shop to have the head pulled off and block washed.

While at my buddy's shop, he's giving the jeep a once over.

Testing the thermostat but that's good

Pulls the water pump and finds this

The shop owner lied and didn't replace the water pump.

So after getting it back from my buddy I want to do some things to this jeep I wouldn't do to my wheeler

Looks like rust.
Can you have that shop owner pay for the water pump.
And that's why you should never put tap water in your cooling system.

Now what am I gonna name my build?
About the only reason I haven't started anything yet is I can't think of a cool name like you guys....

Guess now it will have to be 'the other, other white build'

Yea that orange stuff is rust.

That's why it got a new radiator and water pump.

Also why the guy who was working on it thought it had a clog in the water jackets.

Got new headlights for the stocker

And a relay harness to take the load off the headlight switch (already replaced it once and it was a little melted)

Took the time to install my fuse panel for my add ons to keep my batter area clean and clear

Not a big difference between the 55/80 h4 bulb that comes with the housings and the 90/130
But I want to avoid going HID in this rig due to the killer deal I got on these guys

I have always had good luck with HIDs but I always run a relay for the ballast, I think that's 99% of the issues everyone has with them dying.

Are you going to dime out the shop that did the unperformed work? What did they have to say?

I was going to call the guy I got the jeep from

But when I got it from him he was trying to squeeze an extra 100 bucks out of me.
Took the floor mats out
Took the back cargo mat out
And left a ton of trash inside

I had to show him the texts to get him to drop it.

The shop was

thor's auto service
299 Foothills Dr
Lake Oswego, OR

Cool guy
Told he everything he did (including the water pump) and told me what he thought the issue was.

Let me leave it at his shop for a few days till I could have it towed.

As far as calling the old owner. No
And calling the shop. No

I look at it as I took the risk and on this one I put a W in the win column.
