THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Nice, let me know when they're pulled. I'll pick them up.

I'll be up at my parents in stow either the 10 or 17 so i could drop them off or meet somewhere, but that depends on funds/motivation to work on it

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What steering are you running? I think I remember you talking about 1 ton OTK, right? I'm planning to go this route when I swap in the HP30 I'm building, but not if it's going to give me issues constantly. What TB mounts are you running?

1-ton OTK steering w/ JCR poly bushings, self-rebuilt Durango box, WJ pump, TNT OTK trackbar (hard mounts at either end) with a home made over-the-axle, axle end bracket

Idk what my issues are... there may be no issues with the 1-ton steering at all. Don't let my bitching about my problems stop you from doing a 1-ton upgrade. I swapped on my airsoft BB balanced 35" tires at the same time I did ALL of the steering upgrades so it could be any number of things.

Previously I got some wobble at specific speeds. around 30, 40 and again at 50 mph. It only turned into death wobble after driving at VERY specific speeds, aka after prolonged driving at about 30mph... but that might be caused entirely by my shitty caster and (maybe?) insufficiently balanced tires.

I'm still debugging but I'm blaming myself on this one, not the steering parts

First of all my caster sucks; I need to build my 3-link. Two, maybe there aren't enough BBs in the tires to sufficiently balance them. Three, after rebuilding my steering box I clearly didn't adjust it perfectly... my adjustments today made it A LOT better but I think it's still a bit loose and I'll fix that later this week. Four, maybe I XXXXed up reaming my knuckles since I did it by hand rather than with a drill press... then again they might be fine but it's still a possibility.

Long story short I changed so many different parts of my steering at the same time I can't tell what's actually going wrong. Since the wobble/vibes come and go as I accelerate I'm sure the tires aren't perfectly balanced but I'd like to think that (if everything else was working properly) even slightly out-of-balance tires shouldn't cause death wobble.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I went to my parents place and fixed their 2001 dodge ram 2500 van in their driveway, then they gave me the title and I drove it home. We'll figure out what I owe them for it after I figure out what I'm doing with it.

Now I have 2 360s (in running, driving vehicles) and a 318 (sitting on the ground.) How the hell did this happen?

I am probably going to fix a few more things on the van and sell it to cover the costs of the rest of the collection, unless I can think of a really good reason not to. Anyone need a decent cheap tow rig you can sleep in the back of? It's only 3/4 ton gasser automatic but it will get the job done.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

dude, my XJ already has a 2wd beam in it, and I have a mint 2wd AX-15 from carmelos mj. all for the price of free

SWEET!!! Load it up in the back of the '94!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i had a terrible dream last night. someone i knew from college who i didnt really talk to, but constantly shows up on my newsfeed on facebook was at my house (my old house) and wanted to weld on my jeep. i said ok, and the before i know it my jeep is on fire, my house is on fire, and the wires going from the street to my house are on fire. i remeber using at least 7 fire extinguishers and they only lasted like .5 seconds each. i was able to put all the flames out but everything was charred pretty good. luckily i woke up after it at like 430am so i was able to go back to sleep and wake up without having a panic attack.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I put that brand-new RevTech 110" motor in my friend's '94 Harely Heritage yesterday...single-fire ignition, new primary drive, all kinds of fun stuff. Aside from a stuck float on the carb it fired first try. XXXX yeah.

Colin, next time I see you mention having 500 ft-lbs at the crank and how cool your low range is in the same sentence, I'm going to slap your mom. You know better than that.

Do you see Colin's mom that much? :P

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That drive to work just made the "keep it or part it" decision MUCH harder.

As I suspected I still need to adjust the steering box a bit more however even as it is now it's so much better.

Still feel the vibes from the rear tire at 50-55+ and get a slight wobble at 40ish so I guess these tires just suck to balance... but I can deal with vibes and wobble as it is now since it's not trying to kill me on a regular basis.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So the headers have 3" collectors.

I was thinking of just running both of them to a 3" inlet/3" outlet y-pipe, then 3" pipe all the way back.

Should be cool?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Should be very cool. Not gonna lie that's one of my favorite MJ's.

Rebuilding my drive shafts today, I've never had them balanced, should I do this? I mean how much of the vibrations can be caused by this? They're OEM shafts but I remember one of the weights just fell off one day I was putting a new Ujoint in. I'm just sick of driving what feels like a 70's dump truck.

Thanks dude.

Depends on how much it costs. Are you just putting new joints in or rebuilding a double cardan joint or what?
