The lift is as finished as its gonna get for now so I'm hoping to take it out somewhere easy this weekend. nothing fancy, just to get it(and me) out and going.

I was thinking of silverado as its close to me and as i understand it, pretty easy.

Was hoping I could convince someone local to join me? If anyone is interested but would rather do a different spot that is also fine since I have no idea what I'm doing to start with, suggestions are welcome.

Lawrence

If you go out tonight I might join ya. I'm in Lake Forest, a couple miles away from Silverado Cyn, and Holy Jim cyn. Send me a PM with your number and when you plan on going. I'll bring the tator tosser.

Silverad is a good time. There is one spot where you can crawl and flex it out to work out any kinks, pops, rubbing, etc.
I'll go with ya sat late afternoon.

Hey Lawrence,
It was nice to meet you on Tuesday's Meet and Greet.
I would join you as well but Saturday I'm going to be up by Lake Arrowhead for Toys 4 Tots trail run.
Post up if you go tonight though.

Main reason I like going out there... to test the parts you put on before you take it out far.

Was going to head up there today for a photo shoot but found out the gate is closed and im not sure when the gate will be open again. Not sure how quickly this is updated but just a heads up!

I checked out that link but was unsure which trail it is. Honestly I dont know what im doing so I dont know which trail im taking, i was pretty much hoping to go with either someone that knew it, or my friend and I would figure it out on saturday morning. I thought it was "silverado canyon rd" that i was supposed to take. Off santiago canyon rd.

Edit:
Oh I see its North Main Divide Road. Which is listed as closed.

I just called and they said its closed due to weather from earlier in the week and no due to fire danger due to high wind forecast but they are considering opening it up tomorrow. I just have to call tomorrow and ask. They said the website is usually accurate but for the day the day they open it its not always 100% so ill have to call tomorrow.

If its not open that is fine, ill just find something else close(suggestions?)

Right on! Never even thought about calling... but define "close".

You're just (understandably) grumpy because you have to work on Saturday, and don't get to do the T4T run!

How far is Cleghorn from Laguna Hills? :)
Toys For Tots run, 8 am Sat 12/8, meeting at McDonalds at I-15 exit 138 in Phelan, CA (Wagon Wheel Rd?), followed by a BBQ at the Mira Loma Ronald McDonald House... www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1091894

Yes - yes I am grumpy pants.. :twak:

You know what Carol - that's not a bad idea for a shakedown run - good mix of trails (easy to hard) to run with plenty of support around if stuff goes wrong and it's only like 65 miles..

Saddleback Mtn. is usually closed most of the winter. Just an FYI. One slip and you're down the cliff on some parts.

Also, the main trails are Maple Springs Road, North Main Divide, and Skyline. I think there is one or two more, but the trail splits when you hit four corners. Definitely a testament to your suspension work. I've blown many a shock up there. lol

What is the best way to find out about a trail. I looked at the trail on google maps but that wasnt useful at all. Im googling pictures of the trails but thats not turning out to be very useful either.

Basically how do i found out what the terrain is like? Like a site that does trail reviews or something and tells you all about the trail?

Best to get paper maps and/or a book so you know what your looking at when your on the trail. This is what i use: http://www.amazon.com/Southern-California-Backroads-4-Wheel-Trails/dp/0966497643

My favorite online site:
http://4x4trailmaps.com/

I have used this one too:
