Yup I was a sucker, bough a chinese winch (champion) worked great until it completely quite, just clicks.Looking to me the mtor is hooped. It did pay for itself in the two years of operation. Just pricing a new electric motor. Just a warning you get what you pay for, I should have headed everyones warnings and bought a real one the first time. The backbone looks funny with no winch on it!!! big beverage holder now!

You sure it isn't just the solenoids?

Or the cables leading to the winch?

My Warn 9000 took a dump on me one day. Turned out the positive connection at the battery was broken. Bought a new crimp on connector, and the winch works awesome.

I take it back, well a little, failure due to corrosion caused by moisture on the brush holder assembly (on order) now if they even slighlty made some attempt to seal the motor I would not have this problem. VERY Very helpful tech support guys! emailed back and forth to me troubleshooting till we found it (literally minutes after I send emails). Even willing to help a guy out way after warranty! yay champion! crap did I just say that?

my champ did that too .. check battery cable connections to the motor, mine were loose .. i tightened them up and saved the day .. i'm gonna swap out the nuts for nylocks and paint the snot out of them with dielectric grease

if it's making a strong clicking noise it means the solenoids are good

Champion winches while slow, are great units for the price.

100% agreed sir .. they're not exactly the yugo of winches that people are making them out to be, more like a 'yota mini truck :) .. mine get's a lot of use stretching fences, pulling trees out the bush, lifting and hauling all kinds of stuff .. i paid $250 for it; that's probably a dollar for everytime it's helped me out !!!

i think if a winch just sits on the front of a rig, weither it's a warn or a champ, and doesn't get used it's gonna fail when you need it most .. use it or lose it
