Strange ticking???

Im putting this in the OEM discusion because the motor is stock.....ok it is a 98 with 150k, 4.5 lift, 33" tires

ok when running and idling in gear there is a small tick, when in neutral the tick is more obvious......it sounds like something knocking around, like a spoon in a glass but a softer clank, atleast from in the cabin.......really cant hear it while driving though

any hints other than pulling the diff cover?

So it is only when moving? Does it get faster as you speed up? Or is it faster when the rpm's speed up?

Open the hood and see if it is coming from the right side firewall area

Before you get too fussed, make sure it isn't the evaporative purge solenoid They can tick and knock at idle. Unplug the connector to see if it stops.

That is what I was trying to get hit to do, narrow it down to that area.
