Stolen XJ in NC

Well I just got back from 7 days of leave to come home to a trashed house, alot of stolen stuff and my XJ was taken from my garage. The theives found my extra set of keys in my room and took it from my garage along with 2 TV's, alot of tools, my washer and dryer, 100+ DVD's and alot of small stuff. . It was stolen from Fayetteville, NC about 1.5 hours south of Raleigh.

It is a green 98 Cherokee Classic, ARB front bumper, detours rear bumper/tire carrier, 5 inches of lift, 32" MTR on black steel rims, Supernerfs, ARB's F/R plus a full set of trail spares, tools and a blue 10LB powetank in the rear. Please pass the word around and keep on eye out for it. It was probably taken sometime late last week so I am sure I will never see it again but I want to at least try.

I am really pissed about this and don't know what to do. The police can't find any prints and probably could care less. For those who don't know me I have served the last 6 years in the Air Force and have about 2 weeks left living in NC till seperate from active duty and I move back to MA. I am really clueless about what to do now.. I am shocked. Please pass the word around

Call Discovery Channel.
Sounds like an episode of 'To Catch a Thief'.

Agreed, post a picture and you may get better results.

Great news.. they found my XJ and I got it back already. It was abandoned about 20 miles from my house. They took the stero out of course, my CB, my axles spares, a whole lotta tools, my powertank and all my recovery gear but at least I got the Jeep back. Also the ARB's won't work but I think it is just a wiring issue. But the main point is I got it back...

I still lost a whole lot of stuff my inside my house and garage but at least I got the XJ back!!!

and a diferent note... there is no way that these theives didn't know I was military. There is military stuff all over my house including my uniform hanging right next to the front door they kicked in. I live in a big military town and this kind of thing happens all the time. Everytime we deploy at least 2-3 people that deploy with us get therir shit stolen/broken into. The scumbags hunt out deployed people's house and rob them blind. It's really sad and makes you think. Thanks for everyone that had something nice to say.

Ummm time to get the cops to pay more attention? Get the neighbours involved and have them keep an eye out? Get an alarm?

ANyways, good to hear that you got the jeep back.

Would the MP's get involved too by chance, almost makes me wonder if some inside info is getting out. Why do I get the feeling the crooks who did this hope they don't get caught by one of their victims, the story of a bloody pulp with a base ID duct taped to his forehead keeps poping up in my head for some odd reason..........................

glad to hear you got your vehicle back...where about's in MA are you going to end up?

Reminds me of what the navy has done a few times when they run into 'problems' with the locals. In Italy they closed the base for 2 weeks, no one on or off post. They opened it on a payday, cash payday, and used $2 bills. Point was made when the locals realized how much of their livelyhood was USN.
Same thing in Hawaii, bunch of local business's wanted the military out, cincpac closed the main posts for 2 weeks, pearl, hickam, schofield, kaneoe, paid next payperiod in $2 bills and that included a task group with a carrier, cruisers and assorted support ships. Amazing how fast that can change attitudes and cause locals to police each other a bit better. Your CID needs to get off it's ass and setup some stings, they got enough manpower to plant people in potential targets and the cops need to pay attention too. A month base restriction might be in order just to get their attention.

Good idea Rich, that could put enough of a hurt on the economy to put things in motion. Kinda reminds me of a something Dad had heard when I was in HS about the problems Joliet casino owners were having. The local gangs and gangbangers were causing them problems on their property and so a representitive of the casino's came to a city counil meeting and told the counil members that the city of Joliet needed to do something about the gang problem in their community and do something to solve the problems the casinos were having, or the casino's were going to bring in people to do the job for them, and the council and police weren't going to like the methods used................Seemed to work pretty well, I feel a bit safer when I've been there since that happened.

hehehehehe, glad to hear you got your jeep back, isn't it funny how whenever the boyz (we) deploy, stuff seams to get broken into, stolen etc...i seem to remember one incident post return from Afghan....when one of our boyz found out his off post house had been broken into...sure nough the local pd didn't get anywhere.....turns out like three weeks later he is walking through the barracks across the street(from ours) and happens to see some DVDs with his name on them through an open door...turned out the room had alot of his house shit in it(couch, lazy boy)...i have a rather fond memory of three floors up and a ankle in a noose....hehehe

Glad to hear about you getting the Jeep back. May the curse of (insert favorite slow & thief-worthy death) be visited upon the perps and their customers.
