Hope you all are well. I need some guidance on how to remove the lower collar of the steering column. This is on an 89 with tilt. I am talking about the piece that is closest to the dash. Nothing sticks out of it, but there is a small indentation/hole on the lower left side. From the FSM, it looks like I should be able to find a tab and a screw that hold it on, but I don't see it anywhere. The hole in the side has a piece of metal(I think) at the top, but I can't get that to move. :dunno: Thanks.

Anyone? I am ready to take a saw to this thing and figure out how the replacement attaches. I can't drive it, because it won't start without getting this rod in the proper place. I have searched google and read many articles regarding the gm steering columns, but nothing has given good info on how to remove this piece. :helpme:

This is just a quess but try pushing at the joint between any two pieces or maybe pry it a bit. If there are no screws or blind covers covering screws it might just be a clip fit where two pieces just snap together. It's worth a try but it went on there so it has to come off and without breaking it either...
