heard you Colorado boys wanna come to Cali and run the Rubicon.....come on over!! lets make this trip happen!

by what that other thread turned into, sounds like a good idea to start a new one over here. I'll keep my eye on this one for the details. Really don't think I'll have any vacy left to make it out, but ya never know.

Here's a start. The vote was 6 to 1 for next year. I like the idea of September, but that's just me. We have myself, Troy, Tom, Dutch, Jeff, Frank, Elly, Jeephead87, jdxj, jeepfreak1020, and shadow maker expressing interest. Tom is looking into a car hauler with driver, Dutch is looking into renting a car hauler. With 11 people so far, I'm thinking the final count from CO will be around 6 a year from now. I know some people in the Intermountain chapter are interested also.

So let's hear a discussion of dates. Dutch can't do August. I like September.

Yes. Some of us are interested. :D

Toward the beginning of the month may be better to allow some financial recovery time before fall fling in October. Without hitting Labor Day weekend, of course. I'm sure it will be crowded then.

My only concern is it sounds like most everyone wants a nice leisurely trip through the rubicon and I'd rather keep it to two nights on the trail to minimize my time away from work. But, I'll go along with whatever the majority wants to do! :)

First or second week in Sept would probably work well for me, especially as we're talking next year. I'm thinking like 3 days there with travel days before and after, so 7 days total. Assuming we start out in Georgetown its 19hrs give or take from where I live to get there. Load me up with Monsters and pee bottles and I can get there in 1 day no problem driving the Audi by myself. In my Jeep or in a big rig and its not happening.

I'd figure leave here Sunday and come back home (so leaving there Friday) Saturday, with us doing the trail and camping Tues - Thurs. That way you have a full day to get things loaded up and ready prior to leaving and a day to recover after coming back. So it would be either 01Sep2013 - 07Sep2013 or 08Sep2013 - 14Sep2013.

Those are my thoughts. Israel has a point about a two day trip. While I hate to complicate things, I also want to get a critical mass of people involved so that this thing takes place. It's hard enough to get a meet and great agreement, let alone a trip to CA. :)

i vote end of june, seems to be less busy then in my experience, plus it's nice too, but my opinion don't really matter to much :)

either way pick a date and i'll plan on it, couldn't make it back last yr or this yr so i'm for sure in for next yr!

June would work, if we did July it would definitely interfere with CO Fest.

June works for me. Person who ran it recently in June said it was a little cold, but I prefer that anyway.

it's usually a little chilly at night, mid 60's in the day(at least the times i ran it at the end of june)

Thats why I have a Coleman Sleeping bag rated for -30. I've used that thing and was nice and toasty at night only to wake up in the morning to find snow and ice on my tent.
