Sluggish Steering

Have noticed my steering getting a bit more sluggish and difficult when sitting still. Guessing my steering pump is going out. No other symptoms - no noise, reservoir is full.

I looked at rebuild kits but they appear to be just seals. So... I guess that means I am in for a new pump.

My research showed PSC was the go to brand. But, I have a '91 and PSC's website lists 95-2006 for their product. Is that correct? Would have thunk pumps were the same across all 4.0 XJ's.

Are there any other brands in 2024 that offer top quality pumps?

I was looking at the $315 version on the right side.

They have something for a '91-02 2.5L, but not the 4.0...

They do have a kit for 1987-1995 but it’s got a remote reservoir. I can only guess that the reservoir is the limiting factor.

It may be worth calling them to find out if there is an option for less than $1200.

Also consider their overdrive pulley, it really helps at low rpms!
