My fenders are limiting my uptravel and they need some more trimming. How high can you go before it starts looking stupid? If I go all the way to the bevel, will the inner fender start showing?

Show me yours, please.

you still have the stock "lip" on the fender? i put down some masking tape and made a jig out of 2 pencils 2" apart... and just traced that outer most edge. relocated the washer reservoir. looked stupid on littler tires... but now with 35s? its about perfect.

37's on here... sorry for the snow everywhere, but this is relatively minor trimming necessary... depending on the bump stops... you can cut up to the reservoir if you chose, also you can re-locate it and cut higher as ive seen... sorta all about your preference. but theis doesnt rub at turn either

I recently did this. Not sure if it would give the clearance the OP is looking for, but it might give someone ideas to those wanting to maintain a stock look. I'm running 33's on 4.5 inch lift.

Take original flare and trim it up. I used electrical tape to mark out where I would cut my flare. This removes the lip on the underside of the flare and also opens it up.

Trim the fender side inner lip on the flare that is normally used to attach the flare to the fender.

Slit fender and bend tabs outward. When I bent my tabs, I held the flare on the fender at the stock location and bent them to conform to the inside of the flare, that way I could bolt the flare to the tabs on the fender. I fiberglass the tabs together (probably not necessary but adds a lot of rigidity to the fender).

The profile of the tabs matches the stock location of the OEM flare. The clearance is gained by trimming out everything underneath (both on the fender and flare).

Use fasteners to attach/bolt the flare to the folded tabs on the fender

Can't find a pic at the moment of the flare bolted to the fender, but worked out perfectly and looks stock while gaining enough clearance for my setup.

Paint the inner fender black and it won't look silly. I'm up an additional 4" from the standard Bushwhacker trimming, washer reservoir relocated to the engine bay (used an older XJ bottle)

I have yet to paint my inner fenders, still doesn't look that bad...

at a certain point you are going to run into the inner fenders, which is considerably more work to trim.

this is how I did mine. at this point, the outer fenders are safe, but the tire gets all up in the inner fender at full stuff turned anything other than straight forward. tire is a 35"

maybe something different, but what your looking at is the front fender cut and moved up to the body line (at the pin stripe), but its actually two stock fender flares fiberglassed together to keep a stock look.....I didnt like how people just moved the flares up and there was a gap at the bottom....
