Shock Bolts-I searched- NEED HELP

First. yes I've searched and found alot of good info, which worked for one side. Problem of course all 4 sheared off, passenger side was easy....couple of whacks! and the welds broke on the weldnuts and I dropped in some new bolts and lock washers (grade eight zinc coated). Now its midnight I have been whaling!! and beating on the drivers side, while searching NAXJA for tips during breaks, for hours. I have finally just drilled them all the way out, and wouldn't you know I broke the tap trying to re-tap it!!!!! Seeing that I am not at the garage, so i don't have a grinder or plasma to cut the cargo area. I managed to get the tap back out with an easy out, so I'm thinking.... anyone used self tapping bolts? Everything I found in my search shows only grade 8 or superior hardware with nuts and bolts. I'm ready for bed but need my heep ready in the morning...Any problems using self tapping bolts?

If I were in your position I would probably go ahead and put them in so you can have it in the morning and then go back and tap it out and put better stuff in later. I really dont think it would hurt it short term. It may not hurt it on the longrun either but I dont know.

What I was also thinking, now that I have got comfy in this desk chair I have to convince myself to go back out there!! Just to join the thousands..no millions who have already said this....THIS SUCKS!!

Damn! What a night, I used grease and PB, took my time and now I have broken a self tapping bolt off!!...I thought I would have good Karma today....(I actually stopped procrastinating and mailed my NAXJA membership payment and App) I guess I am going to redrill the bolt, that I put in the bolt that I already drilled (getting confusing)

I was one of the lucky ones, when I put my lift on not a single one of my shock bolts broke. Though I did PB blast them for 2 weeks. Good Luck.

Okay I have now broken my last drill bit!!! I am done...I'll just go to work like a jackrabbit (bouncing up and down!) I am going to bed before I beat the freakin' windows out of this POS!! I swear this jeep is my reincarnated ex wife!!!!
