Seat swap....gotta try it....

Just picked up a complete set of 2000 Grand Cherokee seats.... I might be in over my head, but I really want to figure out how to mod them to fit my '89 XJ! I know many people have done the swap, but most I could find was swapping into '97+ XJ's. Anyone done this on the older ones like mine? The new seats are also all power, so that's another hurdle I need to figure out.

So you were able to use your XJ brackets onto the Grand Cherokee seats? What year seats did you use? Any power options?

That's because the floor leg seat brackets are the same for '95-'01.

i swapped 98ZJ seats into a 99 XJ with no issue, just swapped brackets, and I think WJ seats are the same... so it would seem that whatever method one would use to swap late-model XJ seats into a pre-95 XJ would work just as well for WJ buckets. :dunno:

Seats were from a 2000. Brackets were from my 96. Not electric. Very comfortable. I will be selling a set grey in color soon.

What about the rear seats? So you can have the 40/60 split?

Rears are pretty easy, just drill a couple of holes, massage a bit with a sledge, and they're in... I have a write up on the WJ rear swap around here somewhere.
