Son-in-law had a blast driving the 99, he'd never done anything like that before.

Our family has been exploring the Blue Hills area east of Rice Lake, Wisconsin for many years. Always wondered about the short jog in County W, and why they didn't eliminate it when they paved it.
Amazing what you can find on Google maps...

Our rental was a 2024 Compass Trailhawk, complete with Trail Rated badges. Didn't really put it to the test, but one nice thing about it was a good place to heat food


We also did some exploring in a Chippewa County forest. 155th Street north of one of many Rock Lakes

Great pics! We love Ouray, especially when wildflowers are blooming.
We flew over Colorado on our way to Wisconsin and saw snow on many peaks, and lots of gold below from the aspens.
That pic from Last Dollar road would probably be way better now. But it's hard to take a bad picture there.
Just like Moab, you can just about point your camera in any random direction and get a great picture.

Thank you. And you're so right… just close your eyes and shoot. And get a beautiful shot almost every time. We love it there; been going for over 30 years. Still find something new all the time. That waterfall we named "Hidden Falls" is tucked back in a small campsite off the trail up to Silver Basin. We've been driving right by it for 30 years an never knew it was there. One of the most beautiful features I've personally seen out there. You can literally walk right up to the base of the falls and take a cold shower, if you're so inclined. Just spectacular!

Agreed about Moab -- we've been exactly once for the 30th Anniversary Fall Fling (some photos), and it was awesome. When we arrived there was virtually no color in the trees, but when we left a week later the color was just settling it. Loved it! Can't wait to go back.
