Those with 96 and down XJ's...

Where behind the dash are there holes for the RCA's to come out. I looked tonight and couldn't seem to find anything I could run some RCA cables and a remote wire through.

Thanks

pull the radio out. behind the radio, where the big bundle of wires comes in from the drivers side there is enough room to get at least 3 of my fat fingers in there around the wire bundle. get a piece of rod 12 inches long, tape your RCAs to the end of it, and push them through next to the harness till you cant reach the rod anymore. then you should be able to grab it from up above the gas pedal.

ive wired up 11 XJs and this is the way i do it every time.

Thanks Grimm

Hopefully I'll have it done before JV

see above, works great. I bought some of those stick on twist holders and stuck them to the paneling below the dash to keep them out of the way as well

Grimm, what kind of rod do you use?

I have a piece of 1/4" square stock left over from another project, i use that ususally. it really doesnt matter... a pencil will work. it just gives you something rigid to push past the wires with, instead of trying to shove the rcas through alone.

My next battle then is figuring out where to install my amp.

I dont like the idea of the back of the backseat because then its mid-floor when I fold the rear seats down.

Underneath the rear seat is where I keep my spare axles and steering

I'd love to put it where the spare tire is...

Mke sure you run the RCA's down the opposite side that you ran the power wire. It will clean up the sound quite a bit !

I know

Got it done today, just needs some tuning on the amp to get it perfect

Ran power down the left, RCA's down the right. Thanks Grimm, your tip had me done running the RCA's behind the dash in less than a minute. Mounted the amp to the sub box... for now. When I get the spare out, its going on that wall and the sub is going to the cubby.

Anyone have any tips for tuning the amp for the best performance. It has a few EQ settings.
