Hey guys i ran into a problem saturday that i cant figure out.

I was driving for about 20 mins and i start slowing down for a stop light and the jeep starts idling very rough and at a super low rpm about 300rpm on the gauge.
And it hasnt gone away.

Ive replaced all the plugs wires and distributer.
Replaced the cps
Cleaned the iac and tps. (Going to replace both of them next)

And the problem is still there.

I dont have a vac leak that i know of. And ive tested.

It idles super rough at idle and while at speed you can feel it missing and shaking bad on decel.

My wife brought up a good point that it wasnt doing this until we put gas in from a local shell station and about the time all these problems arose is about the tome all that new fuel would hit the injectors.

Any idieas.

was it the right type of gas? ik I've put the wrong type in my dads truck and it did that until we emptied it and put the right sort in. but then again thats just my first easy thought. hopefully and I'm sure someone has better ideas. good luck

It was 87octane afaik. My tank is almost empty because of driving it home from where i was at and then limping it a few miles down the road to my uncles house so he can help me replace all the stuff. Im going to go to arco [where i normally get fuel] and get a few gallons of premium in the tank and see if that helps it along tomorrow

After working on it some more

Im getting codes
11 [bad cps] witch i just replaced but havnt reset computer.

12. [Disconnected battery] but i havnt. So im going to to clear the codes.

24. [Voltage on tps] so im going to buy a new tps tomorrow. If that dosnt fix it. Im all out of ideas and im welcome for anyone to come take a look at it.

Its 3am and im off to bed now.

Yeah. I threw 20 bucks of premium in it. Wont fix the problem i have though.

After replacing both 02 sensors tps cps iac and plugs wire and distributer it still would not run right.

Took it down to a family mechanic and he took a good look at it says i have a broken valve spring or something along those lines. So i have to pull the motor apart.

He wanted 180 bucks to run a compression test and pull the valve cover.

Still haven't looked at the injectors?

Still haven't looked at the injectors?

Just had a buddy come over who works for honda/acura

And he did some testing. Number2 and number 3 cyl are missfiring.

He is coming back tomorrow and going to do a compression test. But right now he thinks its a head gasket. Witch is way better then having to replace/rebuild my top end.

Not that i have seen. There is no sign of it on the dipstick and no sign of gas or oil in the coolent.

He thinks that it let go between the two cylanders.
Number 2 is firing just not effectivly. And number 3 is a little better then number 2 but not much.

Seen that happen first hand on fewloosenuts rig. Sounds likely that is the source of your issues. He may want to chime in on what he had to go though.

Thanks for the info.

My buddy the honda/acura tech is going to come back by and we are going to compression test it.

Motor only has 241,XXX miles.

It now has all new sensors and about to get all new gaskets. Hopefully it goes another 240k.

I hope that its just the gasket and not the head.

Welp my problem was a head gasket... pulled the head took it to a shop to have them machine it and it was cracked on the number 1 cyl. Not even where the head gasket blew.... pretty upset but things happen.
