Renix egr issue?

Flashback98

Okay guys, jeep was running great until suddenly it wasn’t lol. Now barely will idle and just runs terrible overall.

With the electrical connector to the egr solenoid unplugged, it remains the same. When I unhook the vacuum hose attached to the back of the egr solenoid obviously the idle rises, but stumbling/struggling to idle stops. Any tips on what this tells me? Bad egr solenoid? Thanks again and apologies for the ignorance

Failing MAP sensor? Vacuum leak or bad wire to same?

How does it run if you open the throttle manually (either by pressing on the arm on the throttle body or pressing the pedal)? Does it run OK then or still stumbles and runs poorly even at the higher RPM?

With the vacuum unhooked, it’s not perfect but definitely runs good even with throttle applied

On my 1990 Renix XJ the valve seat inside the egr fell out, which caused the egr to always be open. thuis cause high manifold pressure all the time and made my XJ run horrible. I had to replace the egr. I found this out when I did a smoke test. I saw the smoke leaking so pulled the egr out and saw the issue with the valve being stuck open al the time. If you have not already done so, remove the egr and inspect it to make sure it can shut off. Or blank the egr port on the manifold off with a steel plate and see if your running issue goes away. Seeing as I have to pass smog test, blocking it off with a plate is not an option for me, thus the new egr valve is what I had to get.

let us know how it goes. good luck
