Removing grill trim?

I want to paint my grill and headlight bezels. So my question is about that piece of chrome between my header and my grill. Is it part of the header or will it come off with the grill? How do you remove it?

What year -- they are not all the same. Take the grill off and you will know immediately.

At least for the pre-96 Xj's the grill piece is 8 screws and the piece up top is seperate.

Thanks JW Thats what I wanted to know. I wont be tackling that project for a couple of days now due to snow.
