So I've been thinking of getting an alarm with remote start put on the XJ. I have had Directed products before (a Clifford system) on an old vehicle. I had some issues with its on board relays (which I think was caused by some faulty trailer wiring), and remotes. The biggest problems I had was trying to find parts to fix it. I was told they quit making them, but I see them on the Directed web sight. I have been looking at there Viper systems 791xv. How have those that have had Viper systems before, or now think of them. I have heard nothing bad myself, but I don't know but just a few that have alarms in ther vehicles to give me an opinion. One of my buddys has a Sky Tech system in his car, but I can't seem to find anything on google for them. Has anyone heard of them, and some feed back on them.

Avital makes a remote starter. It is just the remote start though. Its the Avital 4000x. I haven't heard any problems with it. Viper makes a few remote start, keyless, and security combos. Anything Viper is good IMO.

Ive had a few different brands of alarms. Usually what the previous owner installed on the car/truck. I always end up with Viper. Never had a problem with any of the features. Although, I can vouche for the remote start function because Ive never had a viper brand starter. I had an audiovox alarm on a blazer and it went bazzerk one day and kept cranking the engine. Even with the key out, engine running...whatever. So I lost faith for awhile. But since its 10 degrees outside in the morning, Im thinking of getting one for the xj. Viper all the way.

I think Viper is the way I'm going to go I finely found some info on the SCYTEK brand. While they seem to be full featured systems, and have a limited life time warrenty. I think I should just stick with a name brand.
