Reliable front tow hook setup??

I just snagged another set off an 87 Sunday. These had a seperate 1/4" angle/steel piece that "connects" the hooks. It has boxed ends (almost like mini receivers but they're not) with an L shaped bracket that is sandwiched between the hooks and the bracket, held by the hook bolts. Not sure if it's factory....almost looks like a piece of a hidden hitch to me. Somebody else had already been wrenching on the front end before I got there (and donated their 1/4" Craftsman ratchet to me :laugh3: ) so I don't know what all was there, if anything.
I've got some pics of what I'm talking about, just haven't got them posted up yet. D'zat piece sound familiar to you?

There's something strange in your neighborhood.

It's the lure of the junkyard. I can't stop myself from going.....

called off work and am heading down there tomorrow as well...<<grin>>

Chill with the attitude. If you don't want peoples opinion, don't ask. Ever wonder why they have that opinion, well, we have seen too many tow hooks come loose. Make a good strong bracket that has sufficient tie points to the unibody and nobody will hassle you. Make one that is dangerous and the trail leader on any NAXJA event has the authority to exclude you from the run.
