Anyone rebuild that goofy "double-cardaan" joint on thier front drive-shaft? Mine's making the dreaded chirping noise and I want to rebuild it. A write-up or any advice would be extremely helpful.
I did that a couple months ago. It was pretty straight forward, just a couple u-joints and the centering yoke in the middle. Just make sure not to misalign any of the bearings or lose the spring.
it's cake, just like replacing u-joints, just a few more pieces to keep track of.
As stated previously, don't loose the needle bearings in the centering ball, I dropped two out of mine and spent 30 minutes finding the bastards on the shop floor.
