RE DB install help in Columbus, Ohio

I am planning on installing a set of Rubicon Express drop brackets on my '94 XJ this weekend, unless something comes up. I have done my homework and got all the write-ups I could find on it, but I hear that they can be a real PITA to install. I will be working in my garage at my apartment. I think I have all the basic hand tools I will need. Anyway, I wasn't sure if anybody would be willing to give me a hand to make things go a little faster. I can always buy drinks and pizza or something. I live off of High St. right across from OSU. Thanks.
Later,
Joe

Joe,

Would definitely help if I could, but this weekend am heading down to Natural Bridge in KY for wheeling. A friend and me put my DB's on and it was a pain because everything did not line up right. Just make you DO NOT tighten things down till you have everything in place. Good luck and do not follow RE's directions LOL

Best,

Chris

Wish I had time to help you out. Between work and other shit going on, I will not have any extra time to lend a hand. Sorry bout that. If you have questions about anything, shoot me a pm and should have no probs getting back with all day Sat.(working). I too did a DB install on my pile! Good luck......

I too am working this weekend. See if bshaw a kubtastic can do next weekend we need to get together anyway.

I cant do it next weekend, because I am planning on wheeling. Thats why I need to do it this weekend.

then come to my house tuesday and help me put on drop brackets, bring a hp44 with ya.

Ok, can someone please explain in detail how to remove the stud for the transfer case crossmemeber, because I cant figure it out. I tried vice grips, but I just ended up tearing up the threads, and i tried double nutting it, but I really wasnt sure what I was doing. Needless to say, I couldnt figure it out.

Anyway, those things are such a PITA to put on. We spend about 9-10 hrs working and only got one side finished, except for the brace. The major problem that I ran into was that I needed to redrill holes in the top back of the bracket, because they were about 1/4" off. Well, I'm tired, time to drink some beers. I just had to rant for a minute to feel better.

got a welder? weld the nut to the stud then wrench on it - and sometimes tightening a little will help too...

sure thing

I got it all done except for the braces, and I am totally blown away at how smooth it rides. Of course now I have 2 new problems to deal with. I think I need sway bar recloctation brackets, and I might need my front driveshaft lengthened. Does anybody know if sway bar relocation brackets will work with a front hitch?

Oh, and thanks again Tom for all your help.
