hey so heres my delema i wanna build a jeep speed but being in the military they move us around so much so i dont know the areas there really offer so my concern is if i build my jeep and i go to nc i wont be able to race or play out there. im considering getting started in racing with a class thats not so exspensive. anyone know any areas out in nc or near nc where there is to race or classes. and what class would be a good class for me to keep the cost down so i could just run stock motor with cage and short arms with drop brackets?

I've always been curious of this as well, but seeing your question inspired me to look again... There are no eastern Jeepspeed chapters as far as I can find, however, we do have ECORS:

They don't have their 2011 calendar up yet, but they do appear to periodically hold races out here in NC. Class A would be ideal if that's what you're shooting for... It's a class for predominantly factory rigs (i.e. suspension and engine). If you run 35" or smaller tires, you can run an LSD but no lockers. Stick to 33" or smaller, you're allowed to run a single locker.

Having said this, I'm now tempted to find a beater 2-door XJ so I can slap ~2" of lift on it along with 33" tires, re-gear, and remove the fenders... Could make for a grand ol' time.

We are planning to get together a A class rig for next season, the 2011 Calendar is being finalized right now. Made it to a few of the races this year, and they are insane.

ECORs subforum with lots of discussion, most of the racers are on NC4x4 also.

New rules posted, requirements, etc...

If you google ecors a class some videos will come up, Travelingcircusmedia is the guy who runs NC4x4, he has alot of footage up.

PM me if you have more questions or want some pictures and all from previous events.
