Quick POR 15 question

You need to put some kind of paint over por15, it has no UV protection, Herculiner might be over kill though, where is it going, body, frame, etc...

well the herc is going in my back cargo area and i was also thinking about putting it on my rockers i just installed the other day. I have the 1Gal kit of herc and 1Q of Por 15.

Go for it, might be overkill, but why not? And as Rich said, POR has no UV protection so you need to paint over it anyways.

Isn't Herculiner not resistent to UV too? I see that they sell a bottle of UV protectant.

POR 15 is a very hard and smooth serface and sanding it is one option but it's so hard it will require tons of effort and paper. A better option is to apply the herculiner or whatever you're going to put over the top of the POR 15 before it dries. If you're having rust issues don't believe the por 15 instructions, sandblast first then apply it. It works better than nothing by itself but it works much better if you do a full prep first.

Im redoing my floors patching some rust holes but everything will be fully preped. I also just installed my new rockers so i was going to por 15 and herc them too. Im just going to herc my back cargo area and my rockers because i bought a rubber floor for the front flooring of the jeep. Thanks for all your help guys.

por15 has a top coat but my experiances are that the base coats (non-uv) look alot better then the top coat. plus the topcoating is a pain to get an even coat, it tends to dry quickly and you can get brush marks. I would use either the herc or por then get a good spray on top coat.
