1) How do i get to the top three bellhousing bolts?

2) How do i remove the mechanical fan on the front of the motor? I know i have to remove the 4 nuts on the pulley, but i cant keep it from spinning

3) Once i get the motor mounts disconnected, and the bellhousing bolts removed, can i just pull the motor straight up? or do i need to remove something from the transmission to get the engine disconnected and pulled out?

thanks

ok the top 3
got to where ever you get your parts from. get a flexible extension. need to be like 6-8 inches long. with a #14 inverted torx bit and a ratchet and a buddies help its easy.

or drop the cross member and make room that way either will work

the mechanical fan

i use a long screwdriver and just wedge it in between the other nuts and rotate em off. another wrench works just as good too.

pulling the motor

is it an auto or a stick? either way youll have to pull it forward and up its not hard to accomplish that. putting it back in with out an engine leveler is a bitch lol

search and im sure youll fine much better instructions but how i told ya is what worked for me when i did my swap

i have an auto.

so to pull it forward will i have to atleast move the fans to make room or is there enough room to get it up and out. i think im gonna go buy an engine leveler (give it to my buddy who let me borrow the hoist for as long as i need it)

as for the flexible extension, can i get at them from the top or underneath the jeep?

E12 inverted torx is the size. For the fan try it with the belt on.

I've used the screwdriver wedge method before. Yes, e12 for the top 2 bolts.

is it a 12? well then my bad for bad info lol and like the guy above me said take the front end apart and i makes it 100X easier

Yeah its a 12, its easy to remember because I only have one inverted torx socket and I doubt I will ever need another lol.

ok sounds good guys, i will give that a try today. have to make a trip to the auto parts store to grab an e12 socket, flex extensions, and im gonna pick up an engine leveler as well

well i better put those two back in then lol

how do you remove the crankshaft pulley? i got the puller for it. but i can get the nut off the pulley without the motor rotating. whats the best way to get this off?

today i did get the water pump off and the new high flow one reinstalled on the stroker. i got the fan off, the ground wires disconnected. i also got the alternator off and the a/c unit off as well

thats what i thought too, but the jeep seems free moving now. its in park, but ever since i took out the starter it been able to roll by me pushing it. i dunno why though

that may work ill have to look into that tomorrow.

also, there is no way i can get to the e12 bolt at the top of the housing. is there something im missing. i really dont want to have to drop my hole TnT belly pan (which is tac welded slightly at the front of the pan

Park will not stop the motor from spinning. It idles in park.

It is possible to get a 12 point box end or ratcheting wrench on those E-12s from the top, but it is a bad idea. You will most likley round one of them off, they are in there pretty tight from the factory
