Project 89 XJ

This rig had 3" blocks in the rear and no lift on the front. so put it back to factory height had to fix the exhaust so it could be DEQed. Tires and rims were of different styles and different vehicles. 2 rims were off of a front wheel drive vehicle and then had 2 steel rims. My friend helped me find new rims and tires for $180.00. I have installed front recovery points which I will take pics of you can kinda of see the hoops those are off a FORD F150, I bolted those straight to frame. Need to put OEM Shocks on till I can get a lift kit looking at 4"'s of lift with 32's. Found a hi lift on craigslist for $30 grabbed that . If you have any ideas please let me hear as this will BE BUILT NOT BOUGHT.

Looks good man! Solid rig to start out building! I like how you took those lift blocks out.... Thank god!!!! Haha

Good to see a new build happening!!

THIS!

looks like an "up country", 1.5" taller than most Cherokees at factory height. does it have carpet or vinal floors? 4" should be right on the money for 32's if you don't want much bumpstop/trimming. hope to see it on the trails soon.

Bronze.

It's got carpet thinking about removing it and going with vinyl. Don't know if it's an up country.

The p.o. told me those were 3" shackles hah there not 3". But know I know those are probably stocks chalked makes me feel a little better might get the boomerang style schackles when I do the lift.

Hey man, glad to see you got the build thread up!
I was hoping I explained things well enough to get you going.
I can't believe that thing had 3" blocks on it!
And YOU are the one that scored that Hi-lift! (U suck)... I wanted that one! lol.
Looks like you've got a good plan of action. If you wanna swing by the pad one of these days, we'll have a beer and talk jeep, go over some of your plans in person.

Sounds like a plan. Tons of plans in my head:firedevil

They look aftermarket to me, unless I'm mistaken stock shackles aren't visible hanging under body like that... which makes me think, why the heck did they have 3" blocks and longer shackles on the rear suspension but no lift in the front? Wonder if it had some springs or spacers they took out before selling it?

Anyway it looks like a good start, I'll be interested to see how you end up building it. Also, welcome to NAXJA!

Wonder how I can get the discount for JKS? Looking at the JKS Bar Pin Eliminators front and rear and JKS Shock Conversion, total cost for these items at Central 4wheel Drive is $142,I am definitely going to be looking else where but if any one knows where I can get these items for less or discounted please let me know.

Prices on JKS stuff seems to be pretty well fixed in my experience, but you might try some of the NAXJA vendors... look in the Vendor Advertisements & Vendor Specials forums, I'll bet most of them carry JKS and maybe someone will be running a sale or have a NAXJA discount you can use... if nothing else you'll be supporting a vendor that supports the club, plus our vendors tend to have great customer service.

I do like Central 4wd though, they are friendly and prices are usually pretty reasonable. It also doesn't hurt that I live 10 minutes from them when I need a part in a hurry...

Yea the guys at Central are pretty cool....they've taken good care of me in the past.
Often times if you ask 'em, they'll work with you a LITTLE on price.
If you were quoted 142... I doubt you'll get it for 100....but you might be able to talk em down to 130. DEFINITELY 140 even.... of course (as with just about anywhere) ....the more you shop at a specific place, the more likely you'll taken care of on your next visit.
I DO KNOW, that 4Wheel Parts is offereing a 20% discount site wide, with free shipping on orders of $75 or more.... you might price some BPE's out through them.
They USED to carry JKS, not sure if they do anymore... I know for sure they carry the Teraflex versions.... I think those are around $25

Just found all three items at Teraflex for almost $20-30 dollars cheaper. I knew they made lift kits but didn't know they also made those thanx for giving me that info NW99XJ

No prob, anytime.

Tommorow the XJ gets a tune up, since it runs rough and bucks when your in first gear and second gear. Next up shocks with BPE's might go to the wrecking yard for some sway bar mounts since I have read a lot of other guys use them for BPE's. Let me know what you think of that idea with the sway bar mounts for BPE's.
