problem w/ tranny

I have 1988 XJ w/ aw4, 242 x-fer. the tranny shifts fine in o.d. and 3. But in 1-2 it will not shift out of 1st. It did work but started have problems a couple a weeks ago. I do have a x-fer drop.

The 1-2 shift is a little strange sometimes...did you try it at full throttle until it redlined?

Not red line but up to about 3500 rpm

I don't recall for sure, but I don't think mine shifts out until about 4400 when I have the selector on 1-2

I will try to rev the piss out of today and see what happens.

Revved the piss out of it, it did shift about 4300 rpm. So I guess it is fine then.
