Power?

Hey Guys....

I'm not a Jeep electrician by any means so I need a little input. I (as many of us here) have lights to wire, a winch and the Switches for the ARB Locker and Compressor. The winch goes directly to my battery. The ARB Switches and CB go to the Auxilary Fuse. I basically plugged them into the Auxilary fuse port and put the fuse in over it to hold it into place. Yeah I know - kinda janky but it works :-)

I want to do it right and have a place where I can have one place to run the power from.

Any thoughts?

That Painless kit is pretty slick. I did something similar...went to a stereo shop and picked up a waterproof 70 amp breaker and a 6 circuit distribution block. The distribution block isn't as nice but it does the job. i mounted it on the passenger side firewall up and out of the way. Should stay dry and out of harms way.

Run a distribution block that has a main fused line to the battery and splits off to 6-8 fuse circuits. Something like this: http://www.painlessperformance.com/webcatalog/largeview.php?SearchField=70207

Same one that I run...I had some random things wired up the way you are describing only to tear them out and rewire through the distribution block. It is nice to have it all in one place so you don't have to chase problems if they occur.

That being said...take your time wiring stuff, do it neatly, do it so it makes sense, and label wires if you can, because years later you wont remember whats what and you will still have to try to figure out what the heck you did!

This one is nice, with fuses protecting the circuits, and a weather seal as well, check it out:

This page has lots of info about the panel:

Hey Guys - THANK YOU for the recomendations!!! I like all of it.

Josh - the one you suggested is a little pricey right now but definately something I will consider in the near future.

I got this on Saturday at Pep Boys - it was inexpensive and should work for the lights I am going to wire.

As far as taking my time and wiring everything right - I definiately take my time and trace all of the wires to make sure they are protected and easy to get to.

See you guys next week!!!! I'll show you what I ended up doing (if I have time - LOL).
