He is young enough to not know what film you are referring to.

My students are 12-14 and they talk about it.

Keep in mind that many people who use CB's have no idea what most of these codes mean :D

Commonly used terms include saying 'over' when you finish speaking, in order to let the listener know you are done. 'Over and out' means your part of the conversation is done and you are leaving it. 'Roger' or 'roger that' means you understand. 'Six-up' or 'sixy' means there are police in the area. You can also use 'smokey' but that's a bit passe nowadays...

I also have a list of common lingo used, but it would be ridiculous to post it all up here. However, here's a link to a pretty detailed list of lingo used in North America.

Huh??? I don't know what yer using on the trail, but I haven't seen anything else being used..... please don't tell me the "new gen" 'wheelers are using Nextel Direct Connect..... that damn beeping would get annoying on the trail!

Silverstreak,
For the most part, CB users keep their channel on 19 and there are some states that broadcast info on particular channels.

Other lingo:
"Seat covers" - attractive woman in a passing car.
"Road gator" - large piece of retread laying on the road.

yea thats why i got one.. i felt way left out on trail rides.. everyone else is blabbin back and forth and so of course they never really stop becuase why should they? haha dont need to talk to each other

smokey bear = state police
county mounty = county
city kitty = city police
10-4 = ok
rubberneckers/4wheelers = cars
cloverleaf = on ramps/offramps

these are the terms i use most often... ten codes are useless anymore...

plain wrapper= unmarked police car
hows the weather up north/ south east west ?= is there any police running radar baka the ones hiding at bridges etc..
i got ya back= if you pass me doing 100 i'll let you know if cops are coming
ay four/ four= 10-4/ ok
road mine= pile of crap in the road, depends on where your driving..

thats all i can think of right off
