Orego offroad jamboree?

anybody else heard anything about his yet?, i received a flyer in the mail the other day, but it has me severely confused.

They call it a jamboree, but don't talk about any trails or tech inspection.

It is a one day event from 1-6 pm, which indicates a show and shine to me. but the have no class or trophy information.

The only thing the really talk about is the vendors and clubs and what time they have to be set up. this sounds kinda like a swap meet.

Then they list that vehicle will be 15 dollars to register a club vehicle, no mention of non club vehicles. big letters about an espresso stand on site though.

Oh yeah but they say that in order to raise money to promote the sport you need to have the club sticker on your ride, back to sounding like a trail run again.

I thought about making it a day trip, hoping to meet some Oregon naxja members but i don't even know what the hell it is.

any of you oregonians know anything?

yup that's the info that's on the flyer, so what is it? a car show, a swap meet or a trail run?

Gee thank's howard your a big help

LOL :) Gotta agree with you Dingo, they sure could have written that to read a little more coherently so one could decipher what in the heck kind of event it is!

Re: Oregon offroad jamboree?

Exactly, i know this is the first annual jamboree, but there organization scares me. they don't even list if it is being put on by a parts house, the local offroad club or that espresso stand.

On top of that where do you send the money if you want to prepay, which it says you need to if you are a club.

I hope to hear back from them soon, i sent out an email late Friday night. I'll post there response.

From the lingo on the other boards it sort of appears that it's going to be like a "meet and greet" kind of affair with booths and stuff like that for product displays, same for clubs. If they are going to have beer booths set up, that's about all you could really expect as I can't see any serious "wheeling" type of event selling beer during the activities. So it must be like the "county fair" of 4x4ing goodies and such. At least that's my read on it. ???????

I think they are going to have to get a little more explanative on what's what, before I'd care to put the $75 bucks or so into gas to get down there and back. :)

edit: I mean like - spend $75 and head for Naches/Rimrock and wheel, or spend $75 and go to something you have no idea of what it is...... uhmmmmmm doh... looks like Naches. :)

okay i finally heard back from them this morning. this was the response

Hey Brian,
Thanks for the email. Heck no. No need to re-invent your club.. We would love to have you there.. Yes, you can have your own area at the Jamboree for your group to enjoy. Bring a tent/shade or whatever will make your day enjoyable. The event this year is exhibits and vendor booths. We are going to build a 200 acre man made off road park in Central Oregon that will be the host every other year of the Jamboree. (1 year here, 1 year there) We will wheel there, party here :)
A lot of good pricing is expected from the vendors. A band, food, good company, 4x4 clubs and a beer garden or two. We will be giving trophy's away for many different things along with door prizes. Many clubs are bringing a RTI ramp for their space.

We want you to bring the family and have a good time. The VIP cards are primarily for adults. I think the VIP party at Billy Bobs Saturday night is going to be loud and could be wild. If your OK with that we will work with you to get you passes.
We also have a hotel that we reserved 30 rooms if you will need one. We have special pricing there under Oregon Off Road Jamboree. If you want more information let me know. I can forward it to you.

Let us know if you need any additional information.
Tickets are 15.00 and Kids under 16 get in free.
A pass for each vehicle to get in the Jamboree is 15.00
You can have what ever space your group will need.

Hope to see you there...

Rick

i have asked for more information on the motel, and the actually pricing since i don't know if the vehicle entry fee includes anybody or not. I will post that reply too.

Yeah.... :( all this heat isn't a good thing when viewed from the aspect of the fire danger level. We have really been cooking over here. Even had an officially recognized 112 degree day. The others have been close, like 109, etc. And in talking with some friends over in N. Idaho, the temps are running really high for them this year too. So there may be a lot of closures during the next 6 weeks or so.

Well Bruce ,your :anon: YOTA man  or XJ:thumbup: ,Not many of us have the choice of which 4x4 to $$ or play with.:wave1:

Well................................. :) you probably could have a couple 4x4's, if you didn't have that mansion on wheels that you took with you to NWFest last year. What I have learned though is that Toyota stuff is just as expensive as Jeep stuff. Now if I was really fortunate, they would all work right, and not be torn apart the majority of the time.

So the vehicles they are charging the $15 for, I assume that is for show vehicles inside the event and not outside in parking lots????

they didn't even mention parking outside the event. i wouldn't mind going down there but the more time passes the more questions i have come up with over this thing. i ask him that the next time he mails me back.

Dingo

yup, would be interesting. Otherwise you pay $15 to get in, $15 for a vehicle... plus gas running down the gorge and a bite to eat and it could get a tad pricey! :)

Yeah i know, and you're a lot closer than I am. I'm looking at over 3 hours one way, and about 400 miles round trip. Driving that beast of mine that means almost 7 hours in a vibrating oven and over $150 in gas.

God i love this sport.

Actually we are probably about the same distance. You shoot over the hill to Biggs, and we shoot over the hill to Umatilla and then to Biggs. It's over 3 hours to this side of Portland for us too. And like you, I have no working A/C in my xj either. Hardly worth the trip in my opinion given the sparce details on it. Specially in this heat :( Would really need to do the trip in a car with A/C. But I think I'll just pass on it this year and see how it turns out. May be something to look at for next year maybe.

makes since i think i'm going to try and make it, if nothing else than to give a report to everyone here. Here's his latest reply

The 15.00 does not cover both the vehicle and the driver. If you would like to prepay for the tickets send them here.

The money is being used to pay for the event. With the property, band, permits, staff, stage, lighting, tents, advertising, bla, bla, bla, the event has cost over double from what our initial budget was. The cost of the Off Road park is coming out of our own pocket.

The trophy's are not decided yet. We are planning for some show and shine type, some extreme vehicle, RTI King, and some fun ones. (Also a farthest drive) :)

Here is the hotel information:

I have created a room block for you called ORJ which is your abbreviation for the Off Road Jamboree Group. A total of 30 rooms at $84.95 each plus tax has been blocked for one day, August 19Th 2006. We are very happy to have you stay with us at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Gresham Oregon. Please have your group book their reservations as soon as possible. This block will be revisited on August 1, 2006 for pick up. Could you please include a phone number and address for our system? Thank you again Shelly.
