online route planner for trucks/rv's

Anybody know of an online route planner like mapquest or googlemaps that will take into consideration for high vehicle heights and weights. Taking a friends Class A (42' long, 12'7" high, ~15ton) RV for a weekend to some drag races and the way we usually go, the RV can't(height and weight issues). I have been trying to find one but no luck. Trip is this weekend and am trying to get things squared up. I haven't heard back from the track yet so I thought I would try another route to figure this out. TIA

I don't see 12'7" as being an issue. If a route has a weight limit it would be posted and usually it will only be in residential areas or over a bridge. My truck and trailer loaded is about the same weight but about 49' long and I don't have issue's with googlmaps. Maybe post where you are leaving from and where you are going and I can research it for you.

Check your local bookstore or walmart for the Rand McNally trucker's edition atlas. They have info like heights, weights, etc.

Driving oversize loads for a living, I may be able to help here....
Go to any truck stop and buy this

You should be able to get a 2010 one cheaper now the year is nearly over.
I use a Garmin GPS that also has a "truck" setting on it, but to be honest it means nothing. It will still try to send me the wrong way at times...
There are GPS's specifically made for big rigs, but they are very pricey IMHO. Here is one that is very good, with a price to match...

Between the road atlas, a GPS and some common sense, he will be just fine. No one tool will steer you right every time in my experience.

What you can do is put the address in mapquest and it brings up the route that you do not want to take then you can click "Avoid" and it will find the next fastest way to get to the destination.

Neat, thanks. Gonna have to pick one of those atlases up

That requires already knowing what the problem areas are. Forgetting one would suck, and it doesn't help for routes you've never driven before.

The trip went well. The route we went had no height or weight issues. Never did find a website and didn't have time to get a truckers atlas.
Anybody want to buy a 2003 Tiffin 40' Allgero Bus class "A" RV(Freightliner chassis). 400hp Cummins, allison auto, 3 sliders, full pass through basement, washer/dryer, 2 TV's satellite, VCR/DVD, softest leather sofas I have ever sat on, 21,900 miles, 15 MPG hiway with tranny set in "conomy mode", 10k# hitch, $150,000 takes it home.
