ok, so its a crack on my flywheel ;)

my last flywheel cracked at about 220k, now at 234k it seems to be cracked again and raising a hell of a fuss, anything that is caused the new one to start cracking already, or just maybe the new one was a factory defect

any help on this would be greatly appreciated, oh yeah, how hard is it to slide the tranny back and put a new flywheel on? there is no way im taking it back to the shop that put it in last time, found loose bolts and parts they broke for like 2 months when i got it back last time  , the part may be free, but i'd rather do the labor myself, so i know its done right

thanks

A transmission jack (or an adapter for a floor jack) can make the job a lot easier.

2 years ago, I did a clutch in my 94. 3 of us did it in less than 4 hours, and a good part of that was swearing at and fixing broken crossmember bolts.

About all I can think of that would crack a flywheel would be loose or over-torqued bolts.

When you get the flywheel off, make sure the mounting surface is flat and smooth. If there's a lump or something behind it, could put a lot of stress on the flywheel when it's torqued down.

Just a thought, Dan
