Noise

Had a strange noise driving home tonight, sounded like a rotating part touching against something at speed, only happened when accelerating (in 3rd gear at the time, manual box) and only happened twice in quick succession.

My first thought would be the fan touching against something, but I can't see anything that could have fouled it.

Front driveshaft touching something? Or trying to engage? (I have the vacuum disconnect axle)

I'll have a good look tomorrow morning, but any ideas?

maybe a stuck lifter? or engine ready to throw a rod? check it out a.s.a.p!

Check the harmonic balancer, the rubber may have seperated and the outer ring or pulley is hitting the timing chain cover. I've also had the fan shroud come loose at the bottom tabs and hit the fan blades.
