No sigs for non-member?

When I tried to determine why my sig wasn't showing up, I get the following message when I Edit Signature:

Sorry, you are not permitted to have a signature.

Is it the case that you are not allowing non-members to have sigs any longer? I understand that custom avatars are a privilege, but sigs?!

Thnx

Seems right to me. Personally, a Non-Member is allowed to post, read, and respond to messages. Members have more options.... they pay for the forums, and are allowed use of more options. I think it looks fair.

I had a signature until yesterday and now it's gone. I'm also not permitted to have one any more. No, I don't think it's fair to have had one and then lose it.
It was bad enough when I had to shorten it and remove a lot of useful URL's. Now it's gone forever! :tear:
What's going to go next? The use of smilies and avatars? It would be nice to know in advance instead of having the rug pulled from underneath my feet!

Membership has it's priveleges.

I lurked around for years and finally joined this year...yes, I'm a paying member.

Dino, I understand that you want to tell the world what mods you've done, and you have lots of great info on your site, but geez......get over it....

I don't know if you make any thing off of your site...and I honestly don't care, but are you losing money because you can't have a sig? If so, then pay up and get a sig.

Considering that this is an actual wheeling club....

that has an online forum...

that they choose to make public...

and allow the non-members to post while the actual PAYING MEMBERS support the site, it's updates, administrative costs, and whatever else....

Pay up or shut up.

Why are you whining because you can't tell everyone else how cool your stuff is?

Mods: I think this needs to go to the bin before it gets out of hand. I've said my peace

No I don't make any money off my site. In fact, I pay money every month to maintain it.

Ouch! Why are you being so obnoxious about it?
I don't mind paying for membership. In fact, I'd be more than happy to. Just tell me how I can become a member.
Some people might actually find my webpages useful and having a sig. would help them find the links to my "cool stuff"!

Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining. I'm glad to have access to this forum at all. It's been very useful for me. It would simply be nice if we could see a list of changes that have been made since the SW upgrade.

Thus far, for non-members, no uploaded avatars, no sig. What else?

Hey, as long as I can keep posting and searching, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Hi,
Yes, there is a lot of good information on your site, and it is great to share information. I have looked over a couple of them myself. Keep up the good work.
As to becoming a Member; here is the link http://www.naxja.org/html/applicat.htm You can also email [email protected] with any questions.

NAXJA and the Members are proud of their site. If you look at the number of Members, versus the number of users, you can probably understand why several features are "Members" features. As this site does cost money, there has to be a balance of what is available. Non Members can surf, post, use the PM features, etc.... but some features are reserved for those that help pay to keep the site running. Those features are just an additional perk for being a Member.
That does not mean Non-Members are "lesser people" in any way.
There is a current Announcement with the permissions Members and Users have.

Thanks Glenn. :)
I can appreciate that a lot of work has gone into this site and that it costs money to maintain and upgrade. The latest upgrades are great.
Thanks for the link to the membership application form. That's very helpful.

Waiting patiently for the membership application I sent in last week to go thru. Besides, I need a new avatar...a unique one...
