Hey it worked when I first bought this 94 zj 4.0 6cyl
here n there while driving the radio which is stock by the way would just cut off. It would jump in and out! Next thing I knew everytime I started the jeep
no power lights were on the radio

Could be internal to the radio or an intermittent open in the power circuit either on the positive or ground sides.

Start with the fuses.

An open circuit can be located using a transmitter-receiver system, or old school you have to physically trace along the wire probing for power/ground and then the absence of such.

well taking a look at it now and wow is it cold outside!!!!!snowing now!!!
Good thing i just got some snow tires!!! anyway i check both fuses that has too do with the radio according to the manual! i'll double check cause i think i just thought of one! the one that has to deal with the radio clock, i think.. anyway after checking 2 fuses 1 in engine compartment #16 and one on the door panel #10 (i think)
they were both good so i went to disconnecting the radio since i need to look at the wires anyway and while disconnecting the center console near the end trying to get in over the shifter the clock on the radio came on? im thinking i would find something by the bottom but the only wires i see down there are for the cigerette lighter and a light and they work!!!
I want to install this after market radio but i would like to know the wires are good first! plus i need to find which wires i need since the after market wires are less then stocks

ok after some careful work i think i have some new info for everyone
ok again its a 94 grand cherokee it was factory radio that was in now the speakers worked prior to the radio not having power.
so i checked fuses... good.... so i swapped in a aftermarket, i positively identified the constant and switch 12v lines with my meter and connected ground with ground
I connected the constant 12v to the wires indecated on the radio's instruction manual and the switch 12v to the radio's specified location. i did the same for the ground and for the 8 speaker wires, some colors like blue/red as the wiring diagram states were actually blue/pink but i still connected it to the said wires as indicated... this is about my third time installing a radio.... what am i missing the only wire left from the radio connector(aftermarket) is a blue wire that say it hooks to a ant or amp
but on the OEM harness the only wires left not connected are a orange wire (ill.)
green/red wire (when connected to the blue wire from radio makes a noise coming from the glove box but sounds deeper into the glove box.) and theres also a blue/white wire. i have connected all 3 to the blue wire 1 by 1 n still no sound
the new radio has power but no sound please help

for inquiring minds and for the sake of the forum.
It was the factory amp i didnt even know i had one but after fixing that the speakers went out but i replaced them and it works great and i no longer have the factory radio.

Thanks for the help.
