I found on craigslist, he was asking 800 and i got him down to 400.

The jeep is a 1991 XJ 4.0l/4WD with only 159k miles

The brakes are the issue. They have ALOT of leeway. If im going at a good city speed, i have to go in neutral to slow down. And im backing in my garage the brakes work (In reverse or Drive, but at like 5MPH). He said he replaced the fluid block for the rear brakes...

Also, the speckle is bent so when I get a lift im going to get a new one and weld it on.

All-in-all, I think it should be a good project.

Any suggestions are welcome

Treat that rust.

x2

especially before you start buying parts for it. You really need to rip out all the carpet cause if the outside is that bad I am sure the floor boards will be just about gone, As for brakes with the floor boards gone you can use your feet :dunce:

400 bucks is still a good deal for a running cherokee but it may need more work than you will like.

I dont midn the work...

Can some one instruct as to how i should go about taking the seats and everything out.

XJ Stryker: I saw what you did to you floor boards, i wanna do something like that

Pretty simple to get the seat out. I think they are 14mm bolts and nuts. Two fo them or studs I believe and two are bolts. Then if you have power seats unhook it and pull them out.

To get the carpet out you have to remove all the paneling on the sides and get some torque sockets for the seat belts. But it is all fairly easy. Once you get the carpet out pull all the nasty insulation off and throw it out if you plan on reusing the carpet.

Once you get there take some pictures of the floor pan and we can talk about how to best tackle the under side. You can piece mill scrap like i did (cheap way) or you can buy new floor pans and just weld/rivet them in. You just gotta see how much good steel you have left under the carpet.

Sounds good! Ill start on that tomorrow!

Also, my padding on the ceiling is gross. Its all torn apart and nasty. I think I'm just gonna tear it out...I really dont need the insulation. Do you think i should take it out, or doing something else with it?
