Hello. I have a white 4x4 2000 jeep cherokee sport with 51,000 miles. I'm setting it up as a street "performance" jeep. I don't street race, but I would like to go to the nearby 1/8 mile track. It currently has chrome intakes(ebay) intake with custom tube insulation and injen heat shield, flowmaster delta 40 muffler(really old and soon to be replaced with a regular 40 series flowmaster) with main catalytic converter. Still has the two smaller catalytic converters at the header. I also replaced the old champion spark plugs and installed ngk v power plugs, which I've read are recommended for the newer 4.0's with the coil-on-plug ignition. This weekend I will install a 180 degree thermostat. Future modifications: 62mm throttle body, bosch 4-hole injectors, and super chips tuner.

You may not want to mention you gutted your cat on here, some folks get awful upset and will start quoting federal law. Plus a properly operating cat will not hurt performance.

So what do you run in the 1/8? Plans for gearing/ tire size? Maybe slicks?

Thanks for the warning. I'm running 23 inch wheels with bmw x5 rims, painted white with hankook street tires. I'm going to put on nicer ARE wheels which are 21 inches in diameter in the back and a tad smaller in the front, also with street tires. I'm not running it now, because it still has the stock thermostat( 210 degree operating temp), since I have the original 0331 head. :wow: Some people have the 0331 head crack issue, some don't crack till 150-200 thousand miles. I'll just be cautious and properly maintain it. My current rims look like these.

Ok, but for the track you will be more successful with a 15" wheel at least in the rear.
