hope this guys bandwidth allotment isnt used up too quick
All joking aside, I like the crack about "Lifetime warranty on all hand tools (made by Craftsman sold at Sears, we've heard)" since new Craftsman tools have almost the same quality as the ones sold at Harbor Freight.
has been since at least the 90's. not sure about the new stuff, but the mid 90's to mid 2000's stuff i have is bulletproof. another cheap brand that has held it's own is autozone's duralast. i love their ratchet wrenches, i've beat the living piss out of them and they keep on going. the sockets and ratchets have been pretty good too.Is it true that Husky brand is the way to go now?
Sorry man. Guess I'm getting old. I've gone through 3 sets of Craftsman tools over the last 20 years.(Frickin' thieves,..) Each set had lower quality, and higher breakage rates the the previous one.Craftsman make good ratchets, theyre the expensive ones,..
..,That statement about craftsman not being much better than hf is uncalled for... poor craftsman,..
i had the same exact experience. their hand tools are crap as of probably 15 years ago. not even remotely the same as the older stuff. i was returning ratchets several times a year before i gave up. i think i have one left that has a swivel head. I also had several of their deep sockets split down the sides almost immediately.Sorry man. Guess I'm getting old. I've gone through 3 sets of Craftsman tools over the last 20 years.(Frickin' thieves,..) Each set had lower quality, and higher breakage rates the the previous one.
'Haven't decided what to get this time around, but after the last set, I don't need any more Craftsman tools. 'Shame to. My brother managed to hang onto a set of 1/2" drive Craftsman sockets my dad had,.. 'probably 35-40 years old. They look like chromed impact sockets, and I'd be willing to bet they're as tough or tougher then a set of Snap-ons. If they still sold tools like that, I'd buy them in a heartbeat.
