We have one ending in a K (acK), which works well, one that ends in an E (hE) and another that ends in an A (kA). If there name ends in a soft letter (noun or vowel) it gets hard to yell it loud, when you need to and it deosn't carry well on the wind.
A small thing, that may mean the difference between stopping them running in front of a car or avoiding a dog fight.
The hard last letter (accent) of there name, means attention, now. They pick it up fast. It makes there name dual purpose, you can say it soft as a reinforcement or hard for attention.
I had one dog named Buck (worked well) another named Ivan (he was red) which didn't work well. Arak and Chica our dogs now, names work well. If your out working your dogs and your mouth gets dry, whistling doesn't work and spitting out a complicated name gets hard.
When you have a choice between cute and practical choose practical.

LOL, funny I use the names Nein and Aus all the time too. The whole herd answers to Gawd Damned Dogs. They just got done digging a three foot hole in the middle of my flower patch.
I think yelling HEY DICKER, in a crowd, could get interesting.
