I'm trying to replace my lower tranny cooler line, which in 97's+ runs along side the right side of the tranny. Well I cant get the one end of the hose off of the other hose where it connects near the hood. It looks like my drawing below, and the red peices with the arrows pointing to them are the thin strips of metal which is stopping the part from coming out. Has anyone ever done this, and if so how did ya get the separated?

You are looking for AC/Fuel line tool. You will spend around $10 for a set. You will end up using the 5/16 or 3/8 tool. They resemble a "T" shaped bushing. You will push the shaft into the coupling, the shaft will push back those springs and allow you to disconnect the trans line from the radiator.

Here is the set I have, got them at Sears

I was able to use a piece of hose clamp strap with the screw clamp cut off to remove mine. I cut it so the length equals the circumfrence of the fitting. I bent it around the tube and pushed it inside the joint to spread the spring clips. Once it was pushed in I was able to easily pull the fitting apart. Kind of primitive but it worked.
