Need help with a buddys truck.

2004 Chevrolet 1500 ExtCab, Shortbed, 5.3L, 4x4. It's a guys truck from work so I'm just relaying what he described. Steering wheel wont turn left while parked, and a good amount of effort while rolling at low speed. But everything is fine when turning right. Sounds to me like the rack and pinion is bad, but you tell me what you know. Also, how difficult is it to change an R&P? Thanks in advance.

Well he should plan his routes so he only turns right.

Nah he doesn't do any towing, just a DD truck...It serves it's purpose.
